Home Energy Audit
It can seem a bit overwhelming, where to start? What to do?
Take a seat; you’ve come to the right place. Read and research all you want, in fact we recommend you do your own research, but just remember it is easy to get so INFORMED that you do nothing because you don’t know what to do first. You have to also be careful where you get your research and what agenda if any is being sold by the sponsors of that site.
If you are serious about making your home and life more efficient then what we recommend is a home energy audit…
Home Energy Audit
This in our opinion is one of the first things you should do when you decide you want to strive to go green, after all your first step should be to find out where your energy and money is being wasted. You wouldn’t start ripping out your engine without knowing what is wrong with it first??? Same goes for your home.
There are a few options where home auditing is concerned.
- You can hire a professional, someone who is certified and trained in Green Auditing. This is a private consultant and they are very knowledgeable in the field of sustainability, you would attain a thorough audit of your home, however this kind of expertise comes at a price, usually $99.00 for a 2 hour visit. This is a service that Green Install actually offers. If you are interested in information for an audit or have a question please, contact us and place Home Audit in the subject line.
- You can contact your local utility company to see if this service is offered, either for a fee or free. JEA does offer this complimentary service and they will help in 3 different ways.
- You can also find websites where they offer to walk you through your home audit online. JEA also helps online and since they have access to your past electric consumption, this would be a great place to start.
There are a lot of websites out there that can steer you in the right direction; we recommend starting with your local utility company.
Free is always the best price!
However, if for some reason you don’t wish to start with JEA, please remember this is a service we offer. Contact us and place Home Audit in the subject line.
